Control of growth and flowering of chrysanthemum (Dendranthema x grandiflorum Kitam.) using day length extension and Red Light Night Break

Abstract In tropical areas, since the day length (DL) is shorter than critical DL for chrysanthemum (Dendranthema x grandiflorum Kitam.), flowers before reaching required stem (SL) cut flower. Two experiments were conducted with aim of determining vegetative growth genotype; to attain a SL and promote using night break (NB) red light spray type chrysanthemum. first experiment, was extended by one, two, three hours white fluorescent (WL) after sunset. second (RL) applied at middle 15, 30, or 45 minutes night. The laid out in completely randomized design four replications. results indicated extension WL RL breaks had significant effect on characters biomass yield. Similarly, flower bud initiation, coloring blooming significantly affected. NB diameter. (12+3 hours) totally inhibited flowering genotype, which can be considered Hawa1. effectively conclusion, breaking 15 small amount intensity (9.42 µmolm-2s-1) enough inhibit elongation
